KerfPress

Terms of Service

These terms set out your rights and ours when you use KerfPress to generate, edit, preview and download papercut files.

Last updated: 27 October 2026 Effective: 27 October 2026

These terms apply to the KerfPress website (https://kerfpress.com) and the services offered through it. By visiting or using the site you agree to them.

1. Who you are dealing with

KerfPress is the trading name of an individual software studio that is not registered as a separate legal entity. It is run by an independent developer. “KerfPress”, “we” and “our” mean that individual developer operating under the KerfPress name, not an incorporated company. The rights and obligations under these terms rest with that individual.

By using the service you agree to these terms and to the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please stop using the service.

2. What the service does

KerfPress turns an image into layered papercut files, lets you edit SVG cut paths, simulates the assembled result, and exports SVG, PNG and accompanying assembly material.

Anyone can generate, edit and preview as often as they like without signing in. A free account has 1 file download; accounts activated before 20 October 2026 keep the 2 they were given. Free downloads stay on the account and do not expire. KerfPress Pro provides unlimited downloads; the editor is free and is also available without an account. The free templates can be downloaded with a small @kerfpress mark at no cost; a copy without the mark counts as one download. Prices and what each tier includes are whatever the pricing and checkout pages show at the time; if we need to change features, formats or benefits, Section 14 applies.

AI generate uses points. Each use costs the number of points shown on the button. New accounts get 100 points, and Pro includes 2,000 points each month that do not carry over. More points can be bought in packs. Points are spent from Pro first, then free points, then packs. Free points and points from packs do not expire. Pro points are valid for the current billing period and end with the subscription. If an AI request fails, its points are returned automatically. A result you are unhappy with is not a failure, so those points are not returned.

We may change prices, pack sizes and the number of points an action uses. A change never applies to a purchase you have already made, and if an action will use more points, we will say so on the site at least 30 days ahead.

3. Accounts

Some features require signing in. Give accurate details, look after your credentials, and take responsibility for what happens on your account. Users under 16 should use the service only with a guardian’s knowledge and consent. We do not target children and do not knowingly collect their personal information. An account is for one person; do not share credentials. If a team or company needs several seats, contact us first at [email protected].

4. Prices, payment and refunds

Before you buy we show the price, currency, what is included, how long it lasts and any limits. Please check the order before paying. Payment may be handled by a third-party provider; KerfPress does not receive or store full card numbers.

Seven-day refund if nothing has been used. Unless a page says otherwise or the law provides otherwise, you can request a full refund within 7 days of purchase, provided none of the paid downloads, exports, credits or other benefits in that purchase have been used.

A single purchase is one download. It happens at the download step after your file has been generated, and what it buys is one download. Each download spends one purchase, so downloading the same artwork again costs again. We do not keep delivered files and cannot re-issue a past download, so please keep what you download somewhere safe.

Digital content already downloaded. Once you have used a paid benefit to generate, export or download an SVG, PNG, assembly material or other digital file, that purchase is normally no longer refundable. Exceptions: duplicate charges; verified unauthorised payments; a technical fault on our side that stopped a purchased benefit working and that we did not fix within a reasonable time; or where the law requires a refund.

Points packs. Points are added to your balance as soon as you pay, so a points pack is not refundable, whether or not you have used it. The cases we always refund in the Refund and Cancellation Policy still apply: duplicate charges, verified unauthorised payments, a technical fault on our side, or where the law requires a refund.

Asking for a refund. Write to [email protected] within 7 days of purchase with your account, order number, date of purchase and reason. We may check the payment record and whether the paid benefit was used. Approved refunds normally go back to the original payment method; timing and any currency-conversion difference are down to the bank and payment provider, not to KerfPress.

Subscriptions and automatic renewal. KerfPress Pro is offered monthly or yearly and renews automatically on the period you chose until you cancel. You can cancel before your next billing date; after canceling, paid access continues to the end of the current billing period and, except as set out here or required by law, is not refunded pro rata. Renewal price, period and how to cancel are shown at checkout. You can cancel from your account page, which opens the payment provider’s portal, or by writing to [email protected].

Immediate delivery and the right of withdrawal. If the law where you live gives consumers a period in which to withdraw without giving a reason, then once you confirm that you want the paid digital content immediately, we open the benefit straight away; you acknowledge that starting to generate, export or download a paid file may cost you that right of withdrawal. Until you have used any paid benefit, the 7-day full refund above still applies.

The full conditions, what to send us and how long we take are set out in the Refund and Cancellation Policy. None of this removes or limits the mandatory rights consumer law gives you. If you disagree with a charge or a refund decision, please contact us first.

5. Your content and your output files

You keep the rights you hold in the images, designs and generated output you are entitled to use. You give us only the permission needed to process that content in order to provide the service you asked for. Using the service does not make us an owner of your images or your exported files.

Who owns the output

You hold full rights in the files you generate from your own images or edit here, for personal or commercial use — including making and selling physical pieces, and selling the files themselves as digital patterns. Free and paid tiers are the same in this respect. KerfPress claims no rights, no revenue share and no credit in your work. Designs made by KerfPress are the exception: see Designs by KerfPress below.

On the source material

All of that assumes you hold the rights to the material you import. We do not review, and cannot verify, the rights status of what users import.

If you import or use material protected by copyright, trade mark, personality or other rights — including but not limited to someone else’s illustration, photography, animation character or brand character — any dispute, claim or liability arising from it is yours alone, and KerfPress bears none of it.

What this does not cover

The rights granted here extend to the output files, not to the service itself. You may not resell, sub-license or white-label KerfPress as your own product (see Section 7).

Designs by KerfPress

The free templates, the design library and the paper lace generator are our own designs, not taken from your images, so they have their own terms. They are the same for all three:

FreeSingle downloadPro
Make it for yourself or as a giftYesYesYes
Sell physical items you cutNoNoYes
Sell or share the digital filesNoNoNo

With an active KerfPress Pro subscription you may sell physical items you cut from these designs, such as framed shadow boxes, cards, invitations and decorations. Items cut from files you downloaded while you held Pro stay covered after the subscription ends.

Nobody may sell, share or re-upload the files, as downloaded or after editing, or offer them as digital patterns. This covers the marked and the unmarked copy of a template, however it was obtained. Design library pictures may be used only inside KerfPress.

KerfPress reserves the right to take action against unauthorized use.

6. Your responsibilities

7. What you must not do

The restriction on reverse engineering applies only as far as the law allows. Where the law where you live specifically permits certain analysis for interoperability, security research or another statutory purpose, that analysis is not restricted here.

8. Our intellectual property

Apart from user content, the software, interface, algorithms, documentation, brand and related material of KerfPress belong to us or our licensors. Using the service does not transfer ownership of any of it.

9. Changes to the service, and ending it

We may maintain, update, suspend or discontinue parts of the service. We may limit or end access where these terms are broken, where the service is at risk, or where the law requires it. If we decide to stop offering paid services, we will give notice on the site and by email to your account, and say how remaining benefits will be handled: single downloads paid for but unused are refunded for the unused part, and subscriptions pro rata for billing periods not yet used. Files you have already downloaded are unaffected — they live on your own device and do not depend on this service staying up.

10. Disclaimer

To the fullest extent the law allows, the service is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not warrant that the output suits any particular machine, blade, material or project, nor that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. Colors on screen may differ from paper, print and other displays.

Do a test cut first. Check the file, the dimensions and your machine settings. Material choice, blade handling, assembly and the safety of the finished piece are yours.

11. Limitation of liability

What the service covers

KerfPress provides an online tool and the digital files it generates (SVG, PNG and accompanying documentation). It does not include cutting, and does not supply paper, blades, cutting machines or any other physical material or equipment. We take no part in your making process, and what happens after a file is delivered is outside our control.

Working safely

Craft knives, cutting machines and related equipment can cause injury. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions and safety notices, and take responsibility for safe operation, including supervising minors. KerfPress is not liable for injuries that occur while making.

How results vary

The same file can come out differently depending on paper weight, blade condition, machine model and pressure and speed settings. We generate files to the parameters you set; we do not guarantee a specific cutting result on any particular machine or material.

Scope of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, KerfPress is not liable for wasted consumables, damaged equipment, delays, lost profit or goodwill, or any indirect, incidental or punitive loss.

For direct loss arising from the service, our liability is capped at what you actually paid for the purchase concerned; for anyone using the service for free, that cap is zero.

Nothing here excludes or limits liability or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

12. Indemnity

If a third party brings a claim against KerfPress because you broke these terms, or because content you imported, generated or sold infringes their rights, you will cover the reasonable costs to the extent they are attributable to your fault. This section covers your own breach or infringement only and does not apply to liability caused by KerfPress itself.

13. Disputes

If a dispute arises, please contact us first at [email protected] so we can try to settle it amicably. None of this affects the mandatory rights that consumer law where you live gives you.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Significant changes will be announced at least 30 days in advance on the site and by email to your account, with the effective date. Single downloads you bought, and subscription periods already running, continue on the terms in force when you bought them; if you do not accept the new terms, you can stop using the service before they take effect and ask for any refund available under Section 4.
