How it works
- Drop in your SVG. A layered shadow box file or a single cut file. If the editor asks how to place it, check the layers and choose Place here.
- Type the frame size. The Canvas size window opens with the current size filled in. Enter the new width and height in millimeters.
- Choose how the artwork follows, then download. Scale with the canvas makes everything bigger or smaller together. Keep its size leaves the artwork alone and adds or trims paper around it. One Undo takes the change back.
Measure the frame
Take the backing board out of the frame and measure it. That is the size the paper has to be.
Frames sold in inches convert at 25.4 mm per inch. An 8 × 10 inch frame, for example, takes a sheet of about 203 × 254 mm.
With Keep its size, Pin the artwork to decides which side moves. Pinned in the middle, paper is added or trimmed evenly on both sides. The added paper is solid on every layer, and anything past a new, smaller edge is left out of the download.
Questions
What if my frame is a different shape from the design?
Do it in two steps. First choose Scale with the canvas until the design fits the frame on its tighter side. Then choose Keep its size, pinned to the middle, and add paper on the other side. Nothing gets stretched.
Do the bridges get thinner when I make it smaller?
No. Bridges keep their width in millimeters, so they still hold the paper after the design gets smaller.
Which files work?
SVG files made of closed shapes: layered shadow box files from other designers, single cut files, and files downloaded from KerfPress.
Is it free?
Resizing is free and needs no account. Downloading the result uses your free allowance, a single download or a subscription. See Pricing.
Is my file uploaded?
No. It opens in the editor in your own browser, and the editor works on it there.
